A few months ago, we published a ‘K53 Simulator Pro’ version on the Microsoft Store. This version was, amongst others, meant to serve commercial users such as driving schools through a credible distribution channel. Unfortunately, it recently came to our attention that the service restrictions—such as running the apps in a sandbox environment—do not align very well with our ultimate service goals. For one, UWP applications like ours must explicitly define each steering wheel model by its unique ID in the manifest, or it will not be recognized by the simulator software. This is not an issue with the standalone EXE version we build and distribute through our website. Another limitation is force feedback support: our EXE offers full support for the G920 steering wheel kit, whereas our UWP builds essentially do not.
We therefore aim to maintain only a targeted version of K53 Simulator on the Microsoft Store, primarily for personal users looking for a quick way to get started. This version will only come with support for the steering wheel models most common among home users: namely, the Logitech G920/G29, Logitech G923, PXN V9, and PXN V10.
Meanwhile, we encourage both commercial users and personal users looking to get more out of the sim to use the standalone version available on our website. This version can be downloaded for free and can even be tested with just a keyboard before committing or buying steering wheels, offering a 1-hour demo after which you can purchase an activation code to fully unlock it.
