Guided by Southern African Development Community (SADC) standards, our simulator is being built to programmatically enforce official K53 road rules and testing protocols. A precise alignment that ensures schools and learners practice exact regional licensing requirements, guaranteeing every observation and maneuver prepares them to pass the official test.
This demonstration showcases the K53 Simulator being operated entirely through a standard computer keyboard. On this demo, a manual clutch is used but stalling is disabled, which is why the tachometer drops to 0 RPM after releasing the clutch and resurrects once acceleration is applied. Gears are manually selected on the fly using the 1, 2, and 3 number keys. While keyboard controls lack analog input, gamepads, steering wheels, and pedals allow for realistic clutching with full engine stalling.

This custom parking brake consists of a real vehicle lever and ratchet system. It then gets custom fitted with a hall-effect sensor that communicates its analog/progressive position (useful for hill starts) to a little brain board powered by the 32u4 chip – which then sends it to the computer running the K53 Simulator virtual vehicle.
